msn with my kids

just amazed.
at the knowledge of kids have now with regards about internet, computer etc...

just met 3 of my kids over msn.
was surprised as they requested to add me over msn.
did not know who they are at first.
but i just added them....

one was teaching me to use some internet websites to create name tags with effects....
asking to converse over webcam
etc...etc...
hm, a different generation def.
at their age then, i would prob still playing "masa masa" outside HDB flat, at the old playground ( with swings), going to market place to watch the "ah gongs" and "ah mas" chatting at the benches etc...
what a different childhood.

was thankful that i can chat with them.
to know them better outside the "square" classroom.
though i would not be teaching them next year, but would be nice to keep in contact with them.

interesting day to just chat with them.

Thankful.

  • wah cool that your kids added you in their msn :) Good chance to know them personally as well as getting a more acccurate "feel" of how this generation of kids are like (their thoughts, topics they discuss, etc) since you are now in their "inner circle"... hahaha...

Something to watch out though is that no matter what, there has to be a "screen" so that they do not go overboard and "step all over your head" with potential "over-the-top" conversation/jokes...

To be effective in educating them, and by this I do not mean just in terms of syllabus but in morals and values, I feel that some form of respect has to be inculcated in them too... Kids are like that, when they see that you are "friendly", some might "bully" you :p

Thought of something recently, and to put it in your context: GOD must have a reason why HE made you the teacher of these kids and not the classmate sitting beside them... Wahahaha

Must find the meeting point of how to impact their lives effectively... :)

Haha... another of life's "how to balance" questions :p
